Jon Lawniczak, President/CEO JVL Strategics

Jon Lawniczak has extensive experience in the not-for-profit arena serving most recently as the Executive Director/CEO for the National Association of State Treasurers. In this role, he was responsible for the day-to-day operation of the association which included three component units, an educational foundation, and a satellite office. In addition, he worked with the board of directors to develop and implement NAST’s strategic plans. He completely reformatted NAST’s financial model to eliminate functional silos and provide greater transparency. While with NAST he transformed a component unit that was unable to provide services and in debt to one that was fully functional and able to adopt its first ever strategic plan. He also raised the visibility of the organization significantly increasing the number of reporters attending its conferences and social media presence.

As Executive Director for the Hispanic Scholarship Fund Institute, Jon rebuilt the organization from the ground up as its parent organization had closed the Institute four years earlier. He reconstructed the board of directors, recruiting the then Chancellor of Texas A&M and an internationally known neurosurgeon from Johns Hopkins University. Jon also worked with the new board to develop and implement the Institute’s strategic plan. As the organization’s fundraiser, Jon formulated the development plan, solicited over $3 million worth of proposals, and developed collaborations with two U.S. government departments and an agency.
